Affiliate marketing is being paid a commission for sending a customer to a company that sells something. You do not own the product, you do not handle payment, and you do not handle delivery or support. Your job is to bring the right person to the right offer at the right moment.
A company gives you a unique tracking link. When someone clicks your link and buys, the company can see that the sale came from you and pays you an agreed share of the price.
Who is involved
The merchant creates and sells the product. The affiliate (you) recommends it. The customer buys it. The network or affiliate platform sits in the middle for many programs, handling tracking and payouts.
Some companies run their own in-house program with no network at all. Both are normal.
What you are actually paid for
You are not paid for posting. You are paid for a result: usually a sale, sometimes a lead, a free trial, a signup, or an app install. This is the single most important idea in the whole course. Everything you build later exists to produce those results honestly.
That is also why affiliate marketing has no guaranteed income. No traffic and no trust means no results, no matter how good the offer is.
