Finding Affiliate Programs

What you will learn

  • Know where programs actually live
  • Apply before you have huge traffic
  • Evaluate a program's terms

The lesson

Where to look

Three places. First, networks and marketplaces that host many programs in one dashboard. Second, in-house programs — scroll to the footer of any brand's website and look for "Affiliates", "Partners" or "Referral program". Third, the creators you already follow in your niche: check what they link to and whether that brand has a public program.

A simple search pattern works well: the product name plus "affiliate program".

Applying with no audience

Many programs approve beginners. In the application, describe your niche, where you will publish, and how you will promote honestly. Have at least one real page or profile with a few pieces of content live before applying — an empty profile is the main reason applications are rejected.

If you are rejected, that is not permanent. Publish more, then reapply in a month.

Reading the terms

Check whether paid ads on the brand's own name are allowed, whether coupon or cashback traffic is allowed, which countries are eligible, and what happens to your account if you go inactive. Also check whether the product is actually good — your reputation is attached to it.

Real example

Niche: home office setups. You list ten products you would genuinely recommend.

You search each brand name plus "affiliate program", find four in-house programs and two on networks.

You apply to all six with the same short honest description of your content plan. Four approve you.

Important points

  • +Start with products you already own or have researched deeply.
  • +One good program beats twenty random ones.
  • +Keep a simple document with login, commission, cookie window and payout terms for each program.

Common mistakes

  • Applying with an empty profile and no content.
  • Joining programs for products you would never recommend.
  • Ignoring the terms and getting the account closed.
