The lesson
Content that converts
Five formats do most of the work: the honest review, the comparison of two options, the tutorial that uses the product, the problem-solution post, and the list for a specific situation. All five are search-friendly and all five arrive at a natural recommendation.
Notice that none of them are "here is my link". The link is the answer at the end of a useful explanation.
The structure
Hook: name the exact problem in the first line. Context: who this is for. Substance: what you tested, learned or compared. Verdict: your clear recommendation with the honest downsides. Action: the link plus disclosure plus what to do next.
Downsides increase conversions. A recommendation with no criticism reads like an advertisement.
Volume with a system
Pick one long piece and three short pieces per week. Reuse: a written guide becomes a short video script, three short clips and a carousel. Repetition across formats is how small creators get discovered without paying for traffic.
Real example
Piece: "I used a $35 knife for 30 days — what actually held up".
Hook: bad knives make cooking miserable. Substance: sharpness after a month, handle comfort, what it failed at.
Verdict: good for beginners, not for heavy bone work. Then the link, with a visible disclosure.
Important points
- +Always include the honest negative.
- +One clear call to action per piece.
- +Answer a question a buyer types right before purchasing.
Common mistakes
- –Writing about the product instead of the reader's problem.
- –Publishing once and disappearing for two weeks.
- –Copying manufacturer descriptions instead of giving a real opinion.
Action task
Plan your first three pieces
Write three titles for your chosen offer using three different formats.
Key takeaways
- Five formats cover almost every buying moment.
- Honesty about downsides raises conversions.
- Repurpose one idea into several formats.
